Kana Winery Wine
Ratings, Sept, 2010
Kana 2006 Dark Star (Columbia Valley)
-
"90 points" Wine
Spectator
"Velvety, focused and generous with its
bay leaf-accented blueberry and currant flavors, riding fine tannins through a
vivid finish. Syrah, Grenache and Tempranillo. Drink now through 2014. 240 cases made."
-H.S.
Kana 2006 Scarlet Fire, Ciel du Cheval Vineyard, Reserve Red Blend
(Red Mountain)
"90
points" Wine Enthusiast
"A big (15.6% alcohol) and assertive Rhone blend. Red Mountain's
iconic Ciel du Cheval Vineyard is the source of the excellent fruit, which
brings a mix of black pepper, wild ferns, herbs, tart raspberries and cold
stone. Penetrating and compact." - P.G. (9/1/2010)
Kana 2006 Old Vines, Red (Yakima
Valley) -
"89 points" Wine
Enthusiast
Highest scoring Lemberger, from Washington State, ever. "Mostly Lemberger, from a 1979 planting,
this is an explosion of sweet berry and milk chocolate - what's not to like?
Luscious and full across the palate, it's a raspberry truffle in a bottle. Not
sweet, so not for dessert, but in a way it is dessert all by itself."
- P.G. (9/1/2010)
Kana 2006 Reserve Syrah (Columbia Valley
(WA)
"89 points" Wine
Enthusiast
"High-toned, with penetrating aromas
of smoked ham and a whiff of the good funk. That cured meat character follows
across the palate, along with bright, brambly strawberry/cherry fruit and
vivacious acids." - P.G.
(9/1/2010)
Kana 2006
Tempranillo, Columbia Valley -
"87 points Wine Spectator
"Bright and jazzy, with a warm blanket
of rich fruit and tannin around a lively core of red berry and spice flavors.
Drink now through 2013. 320 cases made." - H.S.
2007 Masterpiece,
Yakima Valley -
"87
points" Wine Spectator
"Soft and appealing
for its polished texture and pretty pear, tangerine and spice flavors. Viognier,
Roussanne and Marsanne. Drink now. 280 cases made." - H.S.
